After staying in Jakarta for Idul Fitri, Jen and I headed up to the embassy’s bungalow in the Bogor area with Joya, Dana, and Gilles. Traffic was alright leaving Jakarta, but got crazy once we got off the highway and started up the two-lane road to the Puncak. Despite the long trip, a weekend in the hills is a nice break from the constant press of Jakarta.

The views:
Other than volume, there was the normal compliment of vendors and other beggars along the road. The vendors are really nothing out of the ordinary - just like in Jakarta, they walk along a line of stopped cars, holding up food and drinks for sale:
After a two-hour drive that included traffic jams through the market areas of Bogor, we reached the bungalows. It was our turn in the large bungalow (in the first picture), and despite a few power outages, it was a great weekend – some rain, but beautiful overall.
The bungalows share a good-sized pool and a large, well-kept garden. Great for relaxing:
I spent some time messing around with the waterproof camera we bought before we came to Indonesia:
Overall, it was a nice quiet weekend with good food, good friends, and most importantly, dominos:
Next visit, we’re hoping to venture outside the property and see some of the surrounding areas:
